The Challenge

Sevenhr have built a strong relationship with Debenhams, having worked on 34 positions with the business since start of 2005. Through this strong and regular contact with sevenhr, we were briefed on 2 roles that they had been unable to fill internally and asked to find suitable candidates

They were looking for someone with experience equivalent to a Junior Store Manager, who is used to working within high turnover stores. This presented a couple of challenges for sevenhr in that people with Store Manager experience are sometimes unwilling to move to a role where they don’t have overall accountability, but also, Junior Store Managers often only have experience of lower turnover stores.

The Solution

We have met with a number of key people throughout Debenhams and as such have built a good understanding of the business and culture. In addition the Senior Consultant on the account worked for Debenhams for a number of years.

It was agreed that a database search would be the best route to find suitable candidates. This involved highlighting all candidates from the database with the correct skill sets and also approaching contacts to network them for recommendations.

From this, five candidates were interviewed by the lead consultant, with three shortlisted for the position. These candidates were sent to meet with Debenhams with the successful candidate being offered after just one stage.
